What does InterestPoint do?

Upon starting a session, the app begins listening to the event and whenever you tap the annotate or agree/disagree buttons the previous 10 seconds of audio are recorded. The annotate button allows you to add a short note or a photograph, but will return to the listening screen automatically after 4 seconds. After the session ends, you can review your annotations and play back the recordings. See the three primary screens from the app below.

Why does it ask ‘Share Session Data’?

We request permission for the user to share their data, only the timestamps and their agree/disagree, to a server housed at the ExCITe Center so we can use this data to understand what particular parts of a presentation resonated with the audience. This feature was particularly helpful with the Learning Innovation Conversation series, the initial spark for the creation of this app.

Who created InterestPoint?

The app was built by Dr. Brandon Morton. Having completed his PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2016, he did a one-year post-doc managing the Drexel App Lab, supported by Bentley Systems, and joined the staff of the ExCITe Center in January 2018 as the Program Director for Civic Technology, leading outreach initiatives engaging K-12 and community organizations.
